Jonathan

On Monday, March 23, 2009, Jonathan went to the doctor because he found a lump on one of his testicles. The doctor sent him for an ultrasound on Wed then on to a urologist on Friday. We were told by the urologist that the lump was a mass and had to be surgically removed right away, since these masses are cancerous 99% of the time. We left the urologist's office, in shock, and headed straight to the hospital for outpatient surgery. We then had to wait for the results from pathology, which came April 1st. The mass was, in fact, cancer. Thank God the doctors moved as quickly as they did! Jonathan was then scheduled for a CAT scan to see if the cancer had spread. The scan was done that Friday, April 3rd. We heard back the following Wed by phone that they found a questionable spot in the soft tissue. Since his surgeon was on vacation, we'd have to wait to hear more at his check-up appt the following Monday, April 13th. At that appt, the surgeon restated the finding of the spot and said it's probably a lymph node. They would do bloodwork to check his markers, which cancer throws out into the bloodstream. We were then given the name of an oncologist with whom we needed to make an appt. On Wed, we received the good news that his bloodwork was normal. His oncologist appt is on Monday, April 20th. We will know more after that appt. He may still need to undergo chemotherapy. All of this waiting is so unnerving. We are very hopeful about the outcome of all of this. We have all learned a lot in a short period of time. All of your prayers, visits, calls, cards, emails, gifts and words of encouragement have been so helpful in keeping us optimistic.
Thanks and Love to you all,
Chris and family
